monica diasAfter modelling in the Ibiza Fashion Festival press show at Mo’s restaurant in Es Cubells in June, I was sad to miss round two at London’s Grosvenor Place. I can’t wait to see the cool and conscious collections, eco friendly fashions and real women gracing the Ibiza catwalk next June when 34 designer boho and swimwear brands touch down.

The fashion show featured women of all shapes, races and sizes on the runway, in order to promote healthy role models and spread positive body messages, including much loved Ibiza model Monica Dias, pictured left. Designers included Fashionsistas, Black Velvet, Bossa Nova bikinis, Beth Richardson, Pretty Mi and FAC Designs supplied the clothes , with hair by celebrity stylist Daniel Jordan of Unite Hair and makeup by Charlotte Dawson. The show was supporting the fight against blindness in children with sunglasses brand Revo and the Buy Vision Give Sight campaign headed up by the King of Shades, Bono.

It was a multi-sensory extravaganza fusing boho and swimwear from Ibiza and London with live art and exhibitions. MTV DJ Damon Hess and DJ Greg Mason were joined by Lydia Lucy from BBC’s The Voice and artist Paul Beer created live art that was signed by celebs and auctioned off for the Buy Vision Give Sight campaign. There were even speakers on sustainable fashion and energy.

Creator and session stylist Karen Windle says, “The message that we´re putting across with our eco friendly, ethically sourced, vintage and recycled fashion is that you can have a high end feel and look amazing without being extravagent. We´re trying to teach the younger generations to be a bit more responsible and be aware of waste and the environment. Promoting healthy body image is way up there too, and it´s about embracing who we really are.”

“Boho is a look that you can wear no matter what size, class, gender or race, and Ibiza does it brilliantly. People love the commercial benefit of beautiful people but we can’t ignore the effect it has on young adults and their self-esteem. The ‘no judgement’ and ‘one big family’ relaxed feel of Ibiza is what I’m bringing to my show. It is a feeling and concept that welcomes everyone, not just a fashion look.”

The Ibiza Fashion Festival will be supporting an Ibiza charity and are talking with Revo about giving something back on the island too. It´s about capturing the Ibiza essence, the fun vibes and the music, and being beautiful no matter what shape or size you are.

Roll on June 2017.
